Surprising recruit is now Nick Saban's 'main guy' for 2018 recruiting cycle

Oh really now?

Four-star cornerback Ken Montgomery Jr. has almost 30 offers from schools and one of those includes Alabama. What might be most surprising for the 6'2", 165-pound Tampa native is that he's apparently one of Nick Saban's biggest targets for the next recruiting cycle.

Ryan Bartow of 247Sports caught up with Montgomery Jr. and learned what Saban told his staff about the young man.

"I was pretty stunned [to get an offer]. Coach Saban was telling the staff how much he loved me. He told me I was his main guy in 2018."

Montgomery said he is trying to get a visit in to Tuscaloosa in the next two weeks and also is hoping to get to UCF, Tennessee and Ohio State. Right now, 247Sports has one prediction in for his commitment and it's to Arkansas, but Maryland, OSU and Alabama are all "warm" for him as well.

Montgomery is the No. 30 cornerback in the class and No. 51 recruit in the state of Florida, which makes Saban's fascination with him so intriguing.

Here are some of his highlights:
