This recruit makes a claim about Alabama that will leave some fans furious

Some fans will love this, but others may hate it.

This recruit is extraordinarily confident, but some fans aren't going to like it.

Five-star offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood is one of the top members of Alabama's 2017 recruiting class, a class that currently ranks second in the nation over at 247Sports. Of course, being a confident player, Leatherwood won't be satisfied with something called "second". Instead, he thinks Alabama's recruiting class this year will be the best of all time.

Well, that's a mighty tall order!

Let's not take away anything from Leatherwood here. He expects to be the best, and this is a good reason for him to work for it. He's definitely not going to come into Tuscaloosa with the aspirations of "Hey, let's be the seventh-best recruiting class of all time!"

However, some fans are not going to like him making this kind of statement. That's not just limited to Ohio State fans, who are currently putting together a hell of a recruiting class right now; that could include Alabama fans, too, as they've seen recruiting classes turn into national champions a lot over the past few years.

Regardless of how you feel about the statement, it is going to be a lot of fun to see if the Alabama recruits can live up to that expectation in a few years. They've definitely got a high bar to clear.
