Alabama suffers its third loss of the month with latest transfer

This is a shocker.

Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver T.J. Simmons is transferring from Tuscaloosa to West Virginia to play for the Mountaineers and Dana Holgorsen.

Simmons revealed the news Sunday morning via his personal Twitter account.

Simmons was a three-star recruit coming out of high school, but he recently shined for Alabama this spring in the team's A-Day game. He figured to be a significant part of the offense this fall for Nick Saban's team, so his decision to transfer to West Virginia, especially now, is a surprise.

In his announcement, Simmons thanks Alabama for his time there, so it doesn't look as though there are any hard feelings on that front. Plus, Holgorsen and the Mountaineers' offense is a good fit for Simmons going forward.

Per NCAA rules, Simmons will have to sit out the 2017 season for West Virginia.
