Former Georgia 5-Star Linebacker Transfers to Rival SEC School

Xavian Sorey, a former 5-star recruit who logged just 188 snaps at linebacker for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2023, entered the transfer portal earlier this month and has now landed with a new team: the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Bulldogs ended their 2023 College Football Playoff hopes with their loss to Alabama in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game. After racking up 19 tackles and one sack this season, IMG Academy alum Sorey is headed to an SEC rival.

When he announced he was transferring, Sorey released a statement:

"I am immensely proud to have been a part of the University of Georgia Bulldog family for the past three years," Sorey said. "I have had the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches, played with the best players, and been supported by the best fanbase in college football. And though I will forever cherish the magic between the hedges, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. Thank you Coach Smart and the entire Bulldog organization for cultivating a winning mentality within our team and showing us what it takes to be champions. GO-O DAWGS! Xavian Sorey Jr."

With him headed to the Razorbacks, fans on X are looking forward to his arrival.

"All the pain and suffering Arkansas fans endured this week has finally paid off," one user wrote.

"Great pickup," another user wrote. "Could be another Drew Sanders situation. Much needed piece to a small LB room."

"Ngl, I was starting to get impatient. Keep 'em coming, Danny boy!" a user wrote, referencing the reporter Danny West of HawgSports.com and 247Sports.

With the Razorbacks, Sorey should expect to see more than 188 snaps.
