With the award being given to Newton, Auburn University made a little history of its own. Never in the history of the National Football League or MLB has any school ever had alumni win the MVP in both leagues during the same season. Cam Newton won the NFL MVP, and former Auburn baseball star Josh Donaldson recently won the American League Most Valuable Player Award in the MLB last November
So if you're an Auburn alumnus, that's some good bragging rights to have in your back pocket as you're sitting around watching Super Bowl 50.
