Another high-profile coordinator turns down the Auburn DC job

Ever since Will Muschamp bailed on the Auburn defensive coordinator job, the Tigers have had some trouble filling the position.

At first, it appeared that Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly was going to return to his alma mater at Auburn. However, Kelly apparently turned down the job and will be staying at Florida State. Now it looks like Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop has done the same thing.

PennLive reported on Thursday that Shoop declined "multiple offers" to meet with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn about the defensive coordinator position. PennLive also mentions that Auburn likely would have made Shoop the highest paid coordinator in college football.

Auburn must now further their search for a new defensive coordinator, and it does not look like the Tigers will have named a new man before their December 30 Birmingham Bowl game against Memphis.
