It looks like the end Auburn's quarterback battle may be near.
According to Brandon Marcello of of 247Sports, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn will name a starting quarterback later this week. Marcello also reports that redshirt sophomore Sean White is the current favorite to win the job over Jeremy Johnson and John Franklin III.
White played in seven games in 2015, throwing for 1,167 yards on 58-percent completion. He only threw for one touchdown, though, while throwing four interceptions. If White is indeed the starter, then he is in for one heck of a ride with Auburn's opening opponent: reigning ACC champ and College Football Playoff participant Clemson.

White outplayed Johnson at the times last year, which is why the Tigers are in this giant conundrum now. Even if Malzahn does name a definitive starter, we could still see the quarterback race extend into the season. Either White could be ineffective, or Franklin could prove to be a far better fit for Auburn once games actually start to be played. Or maybe Johnson finally lives up to the hype. Who knows?
It will definitely be interesting to see how this all plays out.
