Former four-star cornerback Jamel Dean has had a rough go of it aver the past few years. After enrolling at Ohio State in 2015, Dean was medically disqualified due to knee issues. Dean transferred to Auburn, where he received the OK from the Auburn medical staff and Dr. James Andrews.
Well, it looks Dean's college career will have to wait even longer, as he suffered a knee injury in practice this week that will require surgery. He could miss the entire 2016 season.
"He was doing great," Malzahn said. "It was very unfortunate. That's a fine young man right there."

If there is a possible silver lining on this story, it's that Dean's injury is not to the knee that medically disqualified from Ohio State. While it's not good that his other knee now has damage, it likely means that this injury won't end his career.
Dean was competing for a starting spot at cornerback before the injury. Javaris Davis and Josh Holsey are now competing for the spot opposite of Carlton Davis in the defensive backfield.
