Breaking: LB Chandler Wooten announces verbal commitment to SEC school

The three-star prospect was choosing between Florida, Auburn and Tennessee.

Three-star linebacker Chandler Wooten (6-foot-2, 227 pounds, Kennesaw, Ga.) finally announced his verbal commitment. After nearly a week of telling reporters that he was choosing between Tennessee, Auburn and Florida but was silently committed to one of the schools already, the 2017 prospect announced his commitment at halftime of his team's spring scrimmage at Cobb High School. Wooten announced that he would be attending Auburn to continue his football career.

Wooten had his mind made up a few weeks ago — he's just choosing to keep things quiet until he announces.

"I'm silently committed simply because I wanted to wait until I got spring football out of the way so I can just stay focused and finish out the school year strong," Wooten said last week via AL.com. "The school, I like the coaching staff and the atmosphere and how comfortable I am."

Auburn, where Wooten says he can 'definitely see himself going there' was his leader for a while, but Tennessee became his co-leader a couple of months ago after the coaching staff started talking to him more and when he took his first visit to Knoxville.
