Dylan Wonnum is a four-star offensive tackle in the class of 2018 and it was believed that he was a heavy South Carolina lean since his brother is currently playing there. However, he revealed last week that the Gamecocks are actually not his favorite right now, but it’s another SEC team in the Auburn Tigers.

Wonnum said that his relationship with offensive line coach Herb Hand is the big reason why he likes Auburn so much right now.

“He gets to know me on a personal level, but he also sends me text messages,” Wonnum said. “Quotes and everything. You know, like, ‘You’re only as good as your weakest link’ — stuff like that. He always sends me a quote every day. He’s a good person.”

The 6-foot-5, 279-pound OT also mentioned that a visit in the summer boosted Auburn a bit. However, they don’t have a huge advantage as he described the lead over other as “not a lot, but (the Tigers) are standing out.”

Wonnum is also teammates with Josh Vann and Michael Harris who committed to S.C. and Auburn, respectively. So he already knows he’s going to be seeing some serious pressure from both of those guys before he makes his decision after his high school season. He doesn’t have any current official visits yet.
