Arkansas' Bret Bielema called Florida 'the new Ole Miss' in terms of recruiting

Gotta love National Signing Day in the SEC.

Ahh National Signing Day — the day in February that sometimes feels as heated and exciting as a regular season Saturday in October. On Wednesday, Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema had an interview with ESPN2, and he may have thrown some shade at both Florida and Ole Miss. Bielema stated that he thought Florida was a little bit like 'the new Ole Miss' in terms of recruiting. This is pretty convenient timing giving the NCAA's recent investigation of Ole Miss football, which includes recruiting violations. Here's the audio of Bielema's comments.

As SB Nation's Andy Huchins points out, this could be alluding to the country's No.2 ranked wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland, who committed to Florida on Wednesday. Cleveland was at one time considering Arkansas. Bielema later clarified, that he allegedly meant his statements as a compliment to Ole Miss.

McElwain issued a response when he was informed of Bielema's comments during his National Signing Day presser.

We probably won't ever know what Bielema actually meant, but these comments are pretty dang humorous from Bielema if you ask me. As of right now, Arkansas has the No. 25 ranked class, and Florida has the 13th — Ole Miss checks in at No. 6. Be sure to follow all things #NSD2016 with our live, National Signing Day page by following this link.
