The good news: it appears he won't be off the field for too long.
According to the Clarion Ledger, Fitzgerald's recovery timetable for a broken bone in his ankle will be 6-8 weeks, and the school expects him to be ready for spring practice. The Ledger also reports that Fitzgerald was in good spirits after the injury.
Our guy @nickfitz07 had successful surgery on his ankle this morning. He's doing fine, and we expect him to make a full recovery.#HailStateš¶ pic.twitter.com/5cPdIjWyKi
