Deontai Williams had originally committed to Georgia and the Bulldogs, but ended up opening up his recruitment shortly after National Signing Day in February. The Jones County Community College standout and Jacksonville native decided to go back closer to home to play at the FBS level.
The 6'0", 175-pound safety was originally a three-star recruit in the class of 2015 and had actually committed to play for Florida then before flipping to Georgia and then Ohio. He failed to qualify academically and that's what sent him to the JUCO ranks.
He only played a few games last season, according to 247Sports, because a torn ACL. They are also reporting that Florida has done its homework on the injury and feels comfortable enough to bring him aboard. He was on campus in Gainesville this past weekend where he hung out with the staff and got to know them better.
