Florida advances to College World Series after drubbing of Florida State

We are all witnesses of possibly the greatest freshman in Florida baseball history: JJ Schwarz. Schwarz is a wizard with a bat in his hand. This postseason, Schwarz is hitting .564 (21-for-39) with 5 2Bs, 4 HRs, 14 R and 17 RBI. Three of those home runs came in the Super Regional against Florida State.

The freshman led the Gators to a sweep over the Seminoles, giving Florida its first trip back to the College World Series since 2012. In the Super Regional, UF outscored FSU 24-9.

No. 4 Florida now faces No. 5 Miami in its first game at the CWS (time TBA). Earlier this season, the Gators took 2-of-3 from the Hurricanes at McKethan Stadium.

The Canes had an incredibly easy path to Omaha. In the postseason so far, they have beaten a 4-seed, 3-seed, 3-seed, 4-seed, 4-seed. On the other hand, Florida beat a 4-seed, 3-seed, 2-seed, 1-seed, 1-seed, en route to its path to the CWS.

This past week, the UF softball team won a national championship after beating Michigan. A key part to the Gators' back-to-back championship? Taylor Schwarz — the sister of JJ. Let's hope that JJ can bring Gainesville its first College World Series championship.
