Florida's AD just gave us some disheartening news about the UF-Miami rivalry

Well that's not what we were hoping to hear!

Just when we thought we were going to get a real rivalry back in Florida-Miami, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley decides to rain on the parade. The Florida-Miami rivalry was about to go full 1980s until Foley hit everyone with the dreaded "well actually" moment.

Foley likes the renewed rivalry, but said it would not come on a regular basis like it did up to 1987.

"No, I do not see them on our schedule on a regular basis. I think when you are asking your football team to play eight games in this league and Florida State that is a tough slate. This league is obviously as good as it gets and Florida State is as good as it gets."

He makes a valid point as that would make the slate pretty tough each year, but if the season started earlier like he also suggested, then it might give everyone the extra week to pull it off.

The 2019 contest will be the first since 2013 where Miami beat the Gators, 21-16. The Gators faced the Hurricanes annually from 1938-1987 — excluding 1943 — but have faced each other just six times since then. The Hurricanes lead the all-time series 29-26.

Florida's non-conference schedule for this season includes Presbyterian, North Texas, UMass and of course Florida State.
