The SEC has had some legendary coaches come through like Gene Stallings, Phillip Fulmer, Vince Dooley, Steve Spurrier, Robert Neyland and of course Bear Bryant. There have been plenty of other coaches who were in the conference you could consider elite and not legendary and there might be one coach who could be on his way there.

Florida coach Jim McElwain might be that man who can reach elite status as he became the only coach to go to the SEC Championship twice in his first two years. What's more is that if he can win the game in two weeks he'll enter even more elite company.
Only 12 of 51 coaches since expansion have reached Atlanta in their first three years, but those 12 coaches have combined to win 23 SEC titles and 11 national titles. Not too shabby.
