Quad injury sheds doubt on Antonio Callaway's status for North Texas game

Florida should be alright without though.

Antonio Callaway has been a huge part of the Florida Gators offense this season averaging 100.5 receiving yards per game and has two touchdowns. However, it's looking more and more like he won't be available for the game against North Texas on Saturday because of a quadriceps injury he suffered in the 45-7 win over Kentucky.

Coach Jim McElwain says he's "a little nervous" about Callaway's availability in the Gators' final tuneup before playing Southeastern Conference rival Tennessee. Quarterback Luke Del Rio was also concerned with Callaway's potential absence, but did say it should present some opportunities for the fresh faces on the team.

"You do want to get these young guys some reps and some throws to them, get some live action because it is invaluable. It's different. Game speed is very different."

Callaway and Bradon Powell have accounted for half of the team's receptions (with 24 total of his 48) so getting some other receivers out there will help the Gators down the road when injuries eventually get to them late in the season.
