With Jeremy Foley out, here's who should be the new Florida AD

That's a pretty good replacement, right?

With Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley set to retire in October after 25 years of service, the university will have to find someone to fill some pretty big shoes. Foley resided over 27 championships in 13 different sports including back-to-back titles for men's basketball and three championships in football (1996, 2006, 2008).

Foley is 63 and has been hiring championship coaches since 1992. With people suggesting that Florida not look past its own ranks, how about we look at a man who used to be in them?

Everyone knows that Foley and Steve Spurrier were best buddies while the Head Ball Coach was on campus —- he was hired to coach the Gators two years before Foley arrived —- and have kept in touch even after he jumped to the NFL and back down to the SEC at South Carolina. In fact, Florida coaches have given Spurrier a ride on their charter plane to SEC Media Days several times even though he was at an SEC East rival.

Sure, Spurrier is almost 10 years older than Foley, but who has more zest for life and football than Spurrier? The man loves the university as he won a Heisman there and coached a Heisman too. He has nothing but nice things to say about it and he even received the honor of having the field named after him.

Spurrier would basically get to live out his dream of being the ultimate spectator and wouldn't have to coach or being the commissioner of the SEC. Maybe as a bonus he'll bring back sweet visor and polo combos like this:

The 90s were a magical time. And the 2010s and beyond could be the same if Spurrier ever wanted to go back to Gainesville and become the AD. And he should because retirement has to be boring to him, right?
