Just a few weeks ago, four-star 2018 linebacker Quay Walker made it abundantly clear that he was looking to spend his college career in the SEC. How, you ask? Well, Walker released a top-five list that included all five spots being filled by programs from the conference.
On Saturday, Walker updated his list and, while his SEC mindset remains in tact, he made a controversial change to kick one team out of his quintet in favor of another.
The foursome of LSU, Florida, Auburn and Alabama remains unchanged, but Walker is now rolling with South Carolina ahead of Georgia on his list. While this may not be a massive change from a national standpoint, it is undoubtedly something that will not go over well in Athens, where Kirby Smart's feet are already being held to the fire after a disappointing debut in 2016.
Beyond that, it is important to note that Walker hails from Cordele, Ga. and as such, the Bulldogs should have been in the driver's seat to some degree. The 6'3", 215-pound linebacker is a mega talent, simply by the nature of the programs that he is choosing from, but Walker looking away from the University of Georgia should be met with an eyebrow raise if nothing else.
