It's hard to figure out what to make of the 2017 Tennessee Volunteers, especially with a new quarterback under center with the departure of longtime starter Josh Dobbs to the NFL.

One FOX Sports writer wrote about what kind of season he believes the Vols will have this fall, and it's not a good one.
Via The Spun:
"The Vols barely eclipsed the eight-win total last regular season, and even then, needed virtually everything to go right to get there. That included an overtime victory over Appalachian State in Week 1, a miracle against Georgia and a favorable schedule that included home games against Alabama and Florida."
"It seems virtually impossible that Tennessee will get back to eight wins in the regular season to win this bet."
This would be a huge letdown situation for the Vols, but it certainly possible. With their over/under sitting at just 7.5 wins, it's clear that there is a lot of doubt surrounding Big Orange heading into this fall.
When you look at their schedule, you can see why the FOX Sports writer sees this Tennessee team struggling with the highlight being they have both Alabama and LSU on the their schedule this year, along with opening the season against an interesting Georgia Tech team.

Only time will tell, but it should be interesting to see what kind of season the Vols have in 2017, especially for Butch Jones, who needs a big one to keep his seat cool.
