The Georgia Bulldogs May Be the Drake Curse's Next Victim

The Georgia Bulldogs are 6-0 to start the 2023-24 college football season and are the AP Top 25 No. 1 overall team, but their season appears in jeopardy, some fans say, after rapper Drake was seen wearing a Georgia zip-up hoodie.

For context, Drake has been known to support teams who eventually meet their demise.

Here are some examples:

  • Alabama Crimson Tide: Drake endorsed the Tide before their game against Clemson in the 2019 College Football Playoff. They lost 44-16.
  • Golden State Warriors: Betting $60k on the team to win the 2016 NBA Finals after going 73-9 during the regular season, they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
  • Kentucky Wildcats: Drake is often seen at Kentucky games and is friends with coach John Calipari. Since releasing his 2013 album "Nothing Was the Same," the team hasn't won an NCAA title.

After seeing him sport the attire, fans started making memes about the situation.

Someone else said, "Wow - it's over for Georgia[.] Kiss of death"

As mentioned, the Bulldogs are 6-0 this season but had some close calls against South Carolina (24-14) and Auburn (27-20). They did have an incredible performance this past week, destroying the Kentucky Wildcats 51-13 at home.

Quarterback Carson Beck is competing 73.1 percent of his passes for 1,894 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions. They're just 1-4-1 against the spread this season, though, which indicates that they're not putting teams away as easily as they have in the past. They also allowed 21 points to UAB, coached by former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer.

In Week 7, the Bulldogs are on the road against the 2-5 Vanderbilt Commodores. Vanderbilt is 0-7 against the spread and are about 33-point underdogs here. If the Bulldogs lose this one, we can all but confirm that the Drake curse is legitimate.
