Success in college football is always good when it comes instantly, but overall, longterm success is realistically what fans would rather see, in most circumstances. ESPN recently did a power ranking of college football programs in terms of their longevity in the future — essentially it's a projection of a program's strength over the next three seasons, not just looking at the 2016 season alone. Let's take a look at the Top 5, and then at some other notables on the list.

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Florida State
4. Clemson
5. Michigan
Other notables include LSU at No. 6 — I'm guessing this would be assuming Les Miles stays put in Baton Rogue. A few SEC East notables include Florida came in at No. 11 followed by Georgia at 12th, Tennessee at No. 14. Independent Notre Dame came in ninth, and Stanford at No. 7.
