Rasha Breann Sherrer, 36, and Gary "Sambo" Hazlerig, 43, were found shot to death Tuesday afternoon in their Blount County home.

According to a report by AL.com, the two were last seen alive Monday morning, just one day before friends and family became concerned when they were unable to reach them and found their bodies. The pair were awaiting trial on various criminal charges, court records show, including 2015 arrests for drug possession.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt said that Sherrer and his wife left Athens on Wednesday to be with family and was expected to be back today, but that is subject to change.

"Whatever he needs to do to help just be there for his family, we want him to do that. There's no time limit," Richt said via OnlineAthens. "I told Kevin whatever you've got to do, you do it and whenever you come back, you come back. We'll handle business here. There's a lot more important things in life than football."

Sherrer is a former Alabama player and staff member. He came to Georgia before last season after serving as defensive coordinator at South Alabama in 2013.
