Woods had become somewhat famous for painting a Bulldog on his head for every Georgia home game, making him an easy figure to spot in Sanford Stadium. After news of his passing spread, Georgia fans, players, and media personalities alike took to social media to mourn the loss of the "Big Dawg".

Woods, 65, suffered a massive heart attack in 2015 that then required a triple-bypass surgery. WSB cites the Madison County (Ga.) coroner in Woods' death being from an unspecified cardiac issue.
