Georgia Bulldogs Super Fan Unexpectedly Dies at 45 Years Old

Georgia Bulldogs mega-fan Trent "Big Dawg" Woods III suddenly passed away on Monday at 45 years old.

Woods III was seen regularly on TV during Bulldogs home games, and his fanfare at the games grew to the point where other fans wanted pictures with him. He was known for the bulldog pained on his head every Saturday during the season.

Fans on X posted numerous messages with an outpouring of support.

"Just terrible news. RIP to a Damn Good Dawg who repped the G with class and graciously made time for fans," one fan wrote.

"We had the pleasure of taking a Rose Bowl trip with him. I believe this was within a year of his father's death. On the way to watch UGA play Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl, he asked our bus to do this for his mom. RIP," another fan said, who seemingly had a close relationship with him.

"Crushing loss for Dawgnation. I met Big Dawg when I sat next to him at the 2018 SEC Championship. I recognized him immediately and told him that his dad was an Athens legend. Trent thanked me with a smile on his face, pointed at the Dawg painted on his head, and hugged me. #DGD," another fan wrote.

"Carried on his dad's legacy for a much shorter time than anybody could've imagined. DGD," another user said.

According to his family, Woods III had been dealing with an undisclosed health issue for weeks.

He's the third "Big Dawg" in his family, as his grandfather, Lonnie Woods, is the original "Big Dawg." He started the tradition of painting his head when Notre Dame and Georgia squared off for the 1981 national championship.

From there, his dad, Mike Woods, carried the tradition until he passed away in 2017.

"My whole life has been nothing but Georgia football," Trent said on ESPN's College Game Day in 2018. "Family and Georgia football."
