Winning a national championship in college football: tough. Defending that national title and going back-to-back: even tougher. Enter talks of being a dynasty and three-peating as national champion: well, that has not been done since the 1930s when the Minnesota Golden Gophers won three straight national championships from 1934 to 1936. However, nearly 90 years later since that historic three-peat, the Bulldogs are prepping this offseason to do just that. Don't believe us? You obviously didn't see Georgia's Spring Game.

And just like 2022's national championship team, the Bulldogs see several key players from their 2023 title run leave for the NFL. We would be very naïve to have not learned our lesson last year when no one thought the Dawgs could repeat with so many major personnel losses, and not only did they win another national title, they went undefeated.
And in their prep for this legendary run of three straight championships, the Bulldogs capped off their spring practices with their annual Red vs. Black Spring game, otherwise known as G-Day, which saw Team Red beat Team Black 31 to 26. And with the energy and hopes high in Athens, there was plenty to take away from last Saturday's in-house scrimmage.
Vandagriff and Beck Battle It Out
Carson Beck, the quarterback expected to replace Stetson Bennett at starting quarterback, had a solid day, completing 13 of his 18 passes and throwing for 211 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, Brock Vandagriff completed 13 of his 23 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns and one interception for the afternoon. If the battle for QB1 was close heading into the Bulldogs' Spring game, you have to think that Beck gained some separation. But that this battle is far from over and will not be decided until the week leading up to the start of the season. Buckle up, y'all. We've got ourselves a QB battle.
The Defensive Line Has Taken Zero Steps Back
As mentioned before, following their 2021-22 national title, the Georgia Bulldogs lost several key players on their defense and many thought it would be too much to overcome. A year later, the Bulldogs are still national champions and facing the same situation. With names like Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith heading off to the NFL, what remains of the Bulldogs' defense? Well, if you do not know the names of players like Zion Logue, Nazir Stackhouse, and Xavian Sorey, look them up. The Dawgs' defense is going into 2023 with yet another chip on their shoulder and those three players are at the forefront of it all.
Mike Bobo Changing up the Offense
Regardless of who is at quarterback, Georgia is going to have plenty of offensive weapons, including All-American tight end Brock Bowers and Missouri transfer wide receiver Dominic Lovett. And one trend of this offense, that was seen throughout the spring game was the usage of "Eleven Personnel," which means one running back, one tight end, and three wide receivers. This will allow the Bulldogs to spread the ball out and stretch the field and with Bowers' ability to block, will allow runs out of a smaller set that will then open up the play-action game plan.
