Georgia starter suffers horrifying injury, leaves Bulldogs with former QB as new punter

They are lucky to have a capable backup.

According to 247Sports, Georgia starting punter Marshall Long will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a dislocated kneecap in practice. The report says that Long is expected to undergo surgery next week, and a full recovery is expected.

This will leave the Bulldogs with former four-star quarterback Brice Ramsey, as the new starting punter. Ramsey has punted in several spots over the past two seasons, and he was actually very effective in 2015. He averaged over 40 yards per punt on 25 kicks, which is better than what Long has been doing this season.

Say what you want about punters, but having a good kicking game is very important, especially for a team that has had offensive struggles like Georgia has this season. The Bulldogs might be lucky to have such a capable backup, even if that backup is a guy that was expected to be a quarterback.
