Jacob Eason might be closer to taking over the starting QB spot than we think

I know there are plenty of Georgia fans who have been wanting to hear this.

Jacob Eason hasn't been on Georgia's campus for very long, but his long-time trainer, Lavelle Durant, is already impressed with his transformation as a quarterback. Speaking to DawgNation, Durant had big praise for Eason's advancement in his throwing ability since arriving in Athens.

"He's blowing the old Jacob Eason out of the water right now," Durant told the website. "I haven't been as impressed at what Jacob can do throwing the football in a long time as I am right now. Probably ever."

That bodes well for Georgia fans who have been begging for the freshman to get the first start of the season. In that DawgNation piece there's more about Eason's growth and how he's gotten bigger too.

Durant recently put the new-and-improved Eason through his paces across five workouts when the talented freshman crossed three time zones to return home to Washington.

"Wow," Durant said. "That was my honest reaction the first time I saw him. We called him 'Skinny' back then, but he isn't skinny anymore. He looks real good. Real real good. He was defined. He looked so different. So strong. He's filling out his frame. He's excelling on that eye test now. He just looks huge."

When Eason got on campus he was listed at 211 pounds and now he's at 242 pounds with his goal to gain three more pounds in order to be at the proper playing weight. Eason is listed at 6'5", but may very well end up at 6'6" by the time the season gets going.

Those are definitely some numbers and the praise that fans are hoping to hear that might land the touted freshman the coveted starting job this season under first-yer head coach Kirby Smart.
