4-star linebacker J.D. Bertrand, a class of 2019 recruit, announced today via Twitter that he's going to UGA to play his college football.

Bertrand told 247Sports that the coaching staff was the tipping point.

"Coach (Kirby) Smart is a defensive coach, he has coached linebackers at Alabama, I like Coach (Glenn) Schumann a lot, he is always trying to improve himself and Coach (Scott) Sinclair is really good and add all of that up, I was able to pick Georgia," he said.

The 6'1, 215 pound linebacker attends Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, GA., just 75 miles west of Athens. The 2019 recruit is ranked as the 13th best outside linebacker in his class and the 15th  best prospect in the state of Georgia, according to 247.  He also just turned 17, so he has room to grow even further.

Bertrand had been pursued by some of the most prominent programs in the country, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Notre Dame.
