Georgia's season opener is on Saturday against a good North Carolina in the Georgia Dome and the Bulldogs did not have a starter at quarterback named, until now. Coach Kirby Smart made it official and has named senior Greyson Lambert his quarterback to start the season over freshman phenom Jacob Eason.

Eason and Lambert have been battling each other for the starting position all season and it looks like Lambert's 12 games of experience last season might have given him the edge he needed to keep the job. He also has 29 total games of experience under his belt if you include his time at Virginia.

Lambert started 12 of the the Bulldogs' 13 games last season, going 10-2 in those games. For the season, he completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 1,959 yards and 12 touchdowns with just two interceptions. Lambert set an NCAA record for completion percentage in a game when he completed 24-of-25 in a win over South Carolina last two September. That's the kind of tangible experience and leadership that undoubtedly won Lambert the job.
Don't count out Eason yet though as he could still end up becoming the starter later in the season should Lambert start to falter.
