Kirby Smart Reveals His Number One Rival

The Georgia Bulldogs are No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings and in the AP Top 25 with an 11-0 record, and head coach Kirby Smart recently let everyone in on who his biggest rival is.

You might think it's Alabama — the team they'll play in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game in less than two weeks — but you'd be mistaken.

To Smart, Georgia Tech is their No. 1 rival.

"Geographically, they're close. They're in our state," Smart said. "You're playing for something every time you play them, 'cause you're playing for a state championship. I think that's always important. They do a good job, it's the next opponent."

According to Zach Klein of Atlanta news station WSB, Smart said about the Georgia Tech program: "When you have a head coach that's an offensive lineman, you know that team is going to be tough and physical. They can run the ball, and their QB is fast and athletic."

The Bulldogs will travel to take on the Yellow Jackets on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Yellow Jackets are 6-5 after coming off a win against Syracuse. In that game, quarterback Haynes King had 138 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, and ran 11 times for 82 yards and a score. As Smart said, he's fast and athletic.

This season, King has completed 207 of 335 passes for 2,589 yards, 26 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, and he has 688 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

Of course, the Yellow Jackets will face a Bulldogs team that ranks sixth in points per game, 28th in rushing yards and sixth in passing the ball.

Smart also mentioned Georgia Tech's ability to create turnovers.

"They've been really disruptive doing that. ... They've been able to capitalize on that. That's big. That turnover margin is one of the biggest stats out there"

We'll see if the Yellow Jackets can mount an upset of epic proportions come Saturday.
