Georgia starter will reportedly miss College Football Playoff

Bad news for the Bulldogs.

Georgia starting linebacker Natrez Patrick has reportedly entered a drug treatment program and is expected to miss the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal against Oklahoma, as well as a potential national championship appearance should the Bulldogs advance, according to ESPN.

Patrick violated probation following his arrest hours after the Bulldogs' SEC Championship Game victory for marijuana possession, his third marijuana-related arrest since 2015 and second since October.

According to Seth Emerson of Dawg Nation's report from earlier this month, Patrick's most recent arrest automatically triggered a drug test that reportedly came back positive. However, his attorney, William Healan III, told ESPN his client resolved the violation, confirming that he will seek treatment.

"We resolved his probation violation today," Healan said. "Natrez is getting some treatment right now and we're glad we've put this behind him. We're looking forward to his future."

Patrick initially faced a misdemeanor charge for his latest arrest, which was later dropped. He was expected to play in next month's playoff game, despite never having his status officially confirmed.

The junior had previously been arrested for possession of marijuana in October, as well as in 2015. He was also cleared after being investigated for allegedly having marijuana in his dorm room last October.

Patrick's last arrest resulted in a four-game suspension that was based on Georgia's student athlete handbook.

The starting middle linebacker recorded three tackles during Saturday's win, as well as 35 total tackles and 2.5 for loss during the 2017 season.
