Nation's No. 2 JUCO DT Emmit Gooden has one team on top

One team has taken the lead for Emmit Gooden.

Emmit Gooden is, for now, an under-the-radar prospect, but that could be changing in a big way considering his most recent offer. The Georgia Bulldogs, led by Kirby Smart, have entered the sweepstakes for the defensive tackle that ranks as the No. 2 JUCO defensive tackle in the country and, in short, they have taken the lead.

Kipp Adams of 247Sports brings word that Gooden describes Georgia as his "biggest offer to date" and he went on to outline the circumstances that surrounded the offer he received.

"I had just come back from conditioning. I jumped out of the shower and saw I had a new follow back from a coach. It was coach Tray Scott at UGA. He had messaged me his number and asked me to call him. So when I called, he was having dinner. He gathered himself and offered me."

In fact, it is the presence of Scott, Gooden says, that makes Georgia the "favorite" at this point:

"Coach Scott is really excited about me and has been talking to me every day. I would say that Georgia is my favorite as of right now because I talk to Coach Scott like he is an older brother. He said because of who they are losing on the defensive line, I could play any of the three positions on their line right away."

It should be noted that Gooden is one of the ten best JUCO prospects in the country regardless of position and the Bulldogs would be wise to stay invested in his services. Per the report, Gooden's plan is to graduate from Independence Community College in December before heading to his next step and, with that, the Bulldogs are in a fantastic position.
