The nation's No. 4 offensive tackle, Max Wray, has not been officially committed to the Georgia Bulldogs for quite a while. Wray announced his pledge to the Dawgs back in early 2016 but, after about a year, he walked that back in favor of exploring additional options. Since then, we've heard from Wray with regard to a star-studded top four list and, on Saturday, the 2018 prospect committed to one of those teams.
The program receiving the nod was Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes and Barton Simmons of 247Sports brings word from Wray on his rationale:
"With top programs like these, we knew it would be a tough decision. For me, the "X" factor was the moment I walked onto the Ohio State Campus. It felt like home and it took me by surprise to be honest. After a month of getting to know Coach Meyer & Coach Stud over the phone, once I met with them in person & spent time with the players it was 100% obvious to me, and my family, Ohio State was the fit we had been looking for. Ohio State met all of the criteria we were looking for in a college for me & I am extremely excited. I didn't ever think I would leave the SEC but OSU is the place for me. I know we are going to win Championships & get the best recruits."
The 6'6", 289-pound prospect from Franklin (Tenn.) committed to Ohio State over the likes of Tennessee, Alabama and LSU and this is yet another big-time addition for the Buckeyes. In the same report from 247Sports, Wray indicates that he plans to enroll early in January and that provides him with even more seasoning before hitting the ground running at the college level.
Wray ranks as the No. 57 overall player in the class according to the 247Sports composite and, even if that isn't uber-elite status at Ohio State, he profiles as a very solid player along the offensive line for years to come in Columbus.
