2019 outside linebacker King Mwikuta has plenty of time to make his final college decision but the 6'4, 205-pound prospect has a bunch of intriguing options. The soon-to-be high school junior already holds offers from some of the best programs in the country as a high-end four-star recruit and Mwikuta provided an update to his top three this week.
In speaking to Benjamin Wolk of SEC Country, Mwikuta indicated that Florida State is no longer in his top three, with the Auburn Tigers joining the party alongside the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide.
"Auburn, they're in my top 3 right now. They moved up ahead of Florida State. With Alabama and Georgia, I've been up there so many times that I've basically fell in love. I'm just waiting for Auburn to show me a little bit more and get some more dogs in this year's recruiting class."
Mwikuta hails from Troup County High School (Ga.) so the inclusion of the Bulldogs is no surprise and Alabama has been the leader for his services in recent days. Still, the talented defender referenced the race as "close" within the same interview and he shed positive light on Auburn.
"I like coaches, Coach Malzahn. The culture around here is good. Everybody loves you. You feel like you're at home. T-Will. Coach Garner. Coach Malzahn. ... They're cool. They're laid back. They're father figures. They look like they could take on a big role in my life. I would just have a real father around my life. I could see them as real role models around my life."
Given that he is a member of the 2019 class, there isn't a real sense of urgency and this seems to be a fluid situation. In the same breath, this is exciting news for Auburn (as well as Alabama and Georgia) and all of the head coaches involved will be keeping close tabs.
