Four-star outside linebacker Otis Reese (6-foot-4, 218 pounds), who entered National Signing Day as Michigan's highest-ranked commitment, flipped to Georgia and signed his letter of intent with the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
Reese, a Leesburg, Georgia native, committed to the Wolverines during a satellite camp in June 2016, but has made more than six trips to Athens since his last unofficial visit to Ann Arbor, Michigan on April 2017.
The linebacker opted not to sign his letter of intent during the early signing period in December, which led to speculation that he could flip his commitment.
Reese told 247Sports last spring that proximity would make Georgia a realistic option, despite holding his commitment to Michigan at the time.
"What gives them a chance is being the hometown school," Reese said. "Coach Smart is putting on for the 229, so that is what gives them an edge. If they win some games, keep talking to my mom - Georgia is the first and only school she has visited - they could move up - we will see where it goes from there."
Reese ranks as the No. 5 outside linebacker, No. 12 player from the state of Georgia and the No. 87 overall prospect for the 2018 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite.
The Bulldogs currently rank No. 1 overall in the 247Sports Team Composite rankings.
