"It would not surprise me at all to see Clemson-Georgia playing for the National Championship," Bowden said.

Bowden, who is currently working as an analyst for FOX Sports South, did however reveal the Tigers' biggest weakness, which he believes Alabama could expose during the Jan. 1 rematch in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

"If you can stop Clemson's running attack and make them one-dimensional, they got a really nice little play-action running attack by getting the quarterback involved," Bowden said. "A lot of trickery, deceit, and misdirection. They have a really good running team. If you can make them one-dimensional, challenge the throws, make Kelly Bryant really work for it with really tight talented man-to-man coverage out their on the safety, you can beat them. Nobody has been able to do that. If Alabama can do that, they are going to have a really good chance. Nobody has been able to do it."

Bowden coached Clemson from 1999-2008, before resigning midway through his final season and being replaced by current head coach Dabo Swinney, who took over as his full-time successor after serving as an interim replacement.

During that span, the Tigers went 72-45 (43-32 ACC) and appeared in a bowl game during each of Bowden's first nine seasons.
