Jalen Milroe Suffers Injury Scare vs Kentucky

Jalen Milroe is trying to get it out after an early injury scare against Kentucky on Saturday morning.

Early morning road games in the SEC can always yield some weird results. Alabama is on the road facing Kentucky, and the Crimson Tide saw a bit of an injury scare with their starting quarterback.

Alabama started the game on offense, and quarterback Jalen Milroe had been running a nice mix of the run and the passing game. As Jalen Milroe took the ball on a quarterback run across midfield, Kentucky defensive back Ty Bryant made a hit on Milroe's left leg on a tackle. Milroe immediately popped up and was limping while grabbing his left leg. Milroe then sat down on the field and the Alabama trainers were brought out for the injured Crimson Tide signal caller.

Alabama's backup quarterback, redshirt freshman Ty Simpson, began warming up in case Milroe would miss extended time. Simpson entered the game for a single handoff before Milroe emphatically returned to the game. On the same drive, Milroe threw a touchdown to Alabama's Amari Niblack, giving the Crimson Tide an early 7-0 lead. Milroe completed all five of his pass attempts for 51 yards and the touchdown on the opening drive. Alabama is concerned about its signal caller but could pull him early if they build a big lead early.

After throwing the touchdown, Milroe spent the entirety of the Kentucky Wildcats' drive in the injury tent and still looked a little concerned about his left leg. Could the injury be hampering Milroe's playing ability?

Later in the first quarter, the Crimson Tide defense set up the offense on the one-yard line. Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees called a quarterback sneak that looked similar to the "brotherly shove" run by the Philadelphia Eagles. After scoring, Milroe was limping even more while walking to the sideline and had to be helped by Niblack off the field. Could Alabama be cautious with Milroe and let Simpson see some significant playing time?
