While Hal Mumme is not a name recognized by a ton of people, he is one of the longest tenured coaches in college football as he's been in the game since 1989 when he took over at Iowa Wesleyan. Now he will reportedly become the new offensive coordinator —- a position he's held before —- at Jackson State.

Mumme coached at Kentucky from 1997 to 2000 as well where he compiled a 20-26 record. He's also coached at several other schools at various levels in the NCAA and has a 142-152-1 record overall. He was also the offensive coordinator SMU in 2013 and held the position at UTEP from 1982 to 1985. He also has prior experience at the high school level as a coach in Texas so he should be able to recruit the area close to where Jackson State plays in Mississippi.
His most recent head coaching job was at Belhaven from 2015 to 2017 where he went 2-8 in all three seasons.
