Report: Outside linebacker Chandler Wooten is torn between three SEC schools

The three-star linebacker from Georgia will make his announcement on May 13.

Three-star linebacker Chandler Wooten (6-foot-2, 227 pounds, Kennesaw, Ga.) is set to announce his verbal commitment next Friday, and he'll reportedly choose between three schools, all from the SEC. According to AL.com, Wooten is picking between Auburn, Tennessee and Florida. However, Wooten has had his mind made up since a few weeks ago — he's just choosing to keep things quiet until he announces.

"I'm silently committed simply because I wanted to wait until I got spring football out of the way so I can just stay focused and finish out the school year strong," Wooten said via AL.com. "The school, I like the coaching staff and the atmosphere and how comfortable I am."

Auburn, where Wooten says he can 'definitely see himself going there' was his leader for a while, but Tennessee became his co-leader a couple of months ago after the coaching staff started talking to him more and when he took his first visit to Knoxville.

"When I took that first visit [to Tennessee] it was amazing. It blew my mind and made me love the place." Wooten told AL.com. "I went two weeks later and it reassured me what I was thinking was right. We talked some football, toured the campus, the academic buildings and all that stuff. It would be a good fit for me."

Wooten also talked about his third school — Florida — and said that it is a program he grew up dreaming of going to, and added that the coaching staff has been after him hard in the recent weeks.

"That's my dream, ever since I was in third grade I told people I wanted to play at Florida. It's a blessing to have the opportunity to go there and fulfill my dream and play for one of the best defensive coaches in the nation, Coach (Randy) Shannon. It's something I'd definitely want to do."

Wooten is set to announce his decision on May 13, on the day of his high school's spring game. We will continue to update Wooten's recruitment as it develops.
