No. 1 ILB Donte Starks names his 'leader at the moment'

Not a bad school to have as a leader either.

The nation's No. 1 ranked inside linebacker, Donte Starks, is currently leaning toward the LSU Tigers. We know this because he literally said as much.

In an interview with 247Sports, Starks talked about his relationship with LSU coach Ed Orgeron and how the Tigers have emerged as favorites following his visit to campus.

"My relationship with the staff is tremendous," Starks told 247Sports. "I love going up there. Every time I am there it's as if I have never been there.

"LSU is the leader at the moment," he continued. "I'm still going to take visits to other places and see what it's like somewhere else. But, LSU is leading."

It is still relatively early in his recruiting process, with Auburn, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Texas, and a slew of other blue-blood programs going after him with the fury of 1,000 suns. As it often is with teenagers, his mind might change at some point.

That being said, Starks did mention how Orgeron "pitched" him while on campus, which provides some pretty neat insight.

"Coach O called us (the small group who visited campus on Saturday) The Elite," said Starks. "He feels everyone of us that were there would come in and help LSU get back to the national championship."

He also mentioned how the story of Kevin Faulk "staying home" made him realize he didn't have to travel abroad to accomplish goals. Obviously worth noting, Starks is from Louisiana. He is ranked as the top inside linebacker and No. 19 overall recruit in the class of 2019 according to 247Sports' own rankings.
