Remember when LSU was considering firing Les Miles? Fans and members of the booster club are probably thankful they didn't do that after the last 24 hours that the head coach has had on the recruiting trail. Over the weekend, Miles has managed to land three verbal commitments to the 2017 class.
First came the nation's No. 10 ranked offensive tackle in Austin Deculus (6-foot-6, 323 pounds, Cypress, Tx.) who verbally committed to LSU over Alabama and Michigan on Saturday. Deculus visited LSU for Junior Day in February and then again in April for spring practices.
Then on the same day the nation's No. 1 ranked JUCO wide receiver Stephen Guidry (6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Morganza, LA) picked LSU over Alabama, who over a week ago was listed as his leader. Lastly, LSU's third and final commitment from a loaded weekend came from full back Tory Carter (6-foot-2, 255 pounds, Leesburg, Ga.) on Saturday evening.
Carter isn't listed in 247Sports' rankings, but he's being recruited to LSU as a fullback. In high school he has played fullback, defensive end and tight end in high school. Given the huge recruiting weekend that LSU has had, fans should be pretty happy — and relieved — that Miles is still the head man in Baton Rogue.
