Travonte Valentine is a name that LSU fans haven't heard in a long time and that's because he was dismissed from the team back in 2015 before his sophomore year. He was also ruled ineligible by the SEC in his 2014 freshman season. However, the 330-pound defensive tackle is fighting his way back onto the team after playing for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College last year.

According to a nola.com article, Valentine could be making his return to Baton Rouge sooner than later:
An important note here is that completion of these summer courses, with passing grades, would make for an immediate reinstatement to the LSU program, according to numerous sources, including Valentine. His arrival is projected as the first week in August, giving him roughly a month of working with the team prior to the season's start against Wisconsin on September 3. The thought is that Valentine, who is a disruptive force and gifted football player, would immediately push for playing time, and likely an insertion into the LSU starting lineup, assuming he does everything he is asked to do.
Valentine has completed two summer courses so far and has reportedly maintained the grade level he needs to regain admission to LSU. This would make an already good Tiger defense considerably better as Valentine can plug up some holes and even command double teams.
