Phil Steele names four SEC teams as real contenders for 2016

Alabama is the presumed favorite for 2016.

The 2016 college football season is just a little less than three months away, and with that comes, of course, predictions. Phil Steele, who's well-known for his College Football Preview magazines, which are chalk full of information about all 128 FBS football teams, recently appeared on the Paul Finebaum Show to discuss the 2016 season for the SEC.

The West, which is expected to have a number of real contenders per usual, is the presumed favorite to have a team emerge as SEC Champions with Alabama as the obvious favorite. The East meanwhile is seemingly Tennessee's to lose — the vast majority of people are under the impression that with Josh Dobbs and Jalen Hurd at the helm of the offense, really all that stands in their way are Florida and perhaps Georgia. Steele lists four real contenders in the conference, which are listed below.

These are all logical assumptions — with the one possible question mark being Ole Miss. The Rebels are able to replace talent year in and year out, but with the ongoing NCAA investigation caused in part by the Laremy Tunsil debacle during the NFL Draft, some are expecting the off field distractions to translate on Saturdays.
