Per Thamel, LSU shared a statement that they were "aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish."
The program also noted that the student athlete (Holly was not mentioned by name) had been suspended indefinitely from all team activities. Two others were arrested in connection to a shooting at a Union Parish apartment complex that left two people injured. According to Nola.com, one woman was shot three times and is currently in critical condition.
Holly turned himself in on Thursday, but the investigation remains ongoing, and there are potentially more incoming arrests for additional shooters.
The 5'7", 192-pound freshman served a limited role for the Tigers this past season, carrying the ball 11 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. Prior to arriving on campus, Holly was a 3-star recruit out of Farmerville, Louisiana. His offers included other prestigious programs like Auburn, Florida State, and Oregon, but Holly ultimately decided to stay in his home state to play for the Tigers.
Now, Holly's football career is in serious jeopardy following this arrest. The legal process could clear Holly's name, but additional details will likely continue to emerge throughout the investigation.
