Najee Harris is the most coveted recruit in the country and, if one report is correct, we might (finally) have some clarity on his college choice. The powerful and talented running back made the bizarre and refreshing decision to forgo a public announcement of his commitment but, as a result, the recruiting world is left to speculate based on unusual information.
On Thursday afternoon, Barton Simmons of 247Sports brought word that Harris will go from San Antonio, the site of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, to Birmingham following the festivities.
Per an U.S. Army All-American Bowl operations source, Harris has requested a flight change — asking to land in Birmingham now, instead of back home in California (Oakland).
Presumably, that would indicate that the nation's top recruit plans to enroll at Alabama, where he has been verbally committed for more than 18 months. This would be devastating news for Michigan, as Jim Harbaugh and company have been viewed as the biggest challenger to land a commitment from Harris in place of the Crimson Tide.
At this point, nothing is official but Alabama fans will undoubtedly rejoice at any positive news involving what could be the next great running back at the college level.
