NCAA hands down decision on Raekwon Davis

Alabama has been eagerly waiting on the NCAA to rule on the academic eligibility of talented freshman defensive lineman Raekwon Davis. There were early concerns over Davis' academic eligibility this past spring surrounding his test scores, however it initially appeared that his scores would be deemed good enough to forgo junior college and head straight to Alabama.

Then things changed and Davis' eligibility was again in question as the Tide's football season began, so he was held out of the Tide's opener against USC. Wednesday the NCAA finally made a decision, declaring Davis academically eligible for the 2016 season.

Davis, a 6-foot-7, 315-pound freshman, will be able to play in Alabama's home opener against Western Kentucky Saturday.
