Former South Carolina Football Player Dies At 29 Years Old

DJ Park, a former South Carolina Gamecocks offensive lineman, has passed away at age 29. His sister Breana wrote a post on Facebook announcing his death.

"To KNOW DJ/Joseph Park was to LOVE him. I could write a novel, but I'll just leave it at that for now. I'll miss you forever, but at least you can rest easy now," she wrote.

Park suited up for the Gamecocks from 2014-17, logging 389 total snaps

Shawn Elliott, a South Carolina assistant coach, commented on his passing. 

"Saddened to hear about the passing of former Gamecock OL DJ Park. DJ was an awesome individual with a huge heart. You will be missed my friend," he wrote.

Gamecocks fans far and wide also offered kind words regarding his passing.

"Some extremely sad news coming out of Columbia, SC tonight as Shawn Elliott announces that former Gamecock OL DJ Park has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight," one fan wrote.

"He was an amazing guy. He was a personal friend of mine. Super sweet. Truly a soul that will be missed," someone else said.

"Gone too soon. Prayers up for all. Park's and Gamecock's family," someone else said.

"Rest up big guy, dj was a great teammate and a humble individual. Football is a brotherhood & when we lose someone we went to battle with it's an unexplainable feeling," another person wrote.

"Prayers up for his family. Big guy with an even bigger smile. RIP DJ," someone else wrote.

"He was such a beautiful soul. He was kind and funny. The world lost a good man," another fan wrote.

"Man...this one hurts, was a cool guy and was willing to talk to anyone! Rest easy big guy," someone else wrote.
