South Carolina just lost one of its returning QBs for the spring

Will Muschamp certainly doesn't like that news.

Redshirt senior Perry Orth was expected to seriously compete and maybe even win the starting quarterback spot in spring practice. He won't get that chance now after suffering a serious injury in a spring scrimmage on Saturday. According to the Post and Courier, Orth broke his collarbone and has already had surgery on it.

Sources are telling the paper that Orth had a clean break and could rejoin the team for training and workouts in June. Rising sophomore Lorenzo Nunez was also out with a hyperextended knee he suffered in practice last week. That leaves the QB race wide open for now and could create some intrigue come August. Orth started eight games in 2015 and passed for 1,929 yards to go with 12 touchdowns.
