RELATED: South Carolina loses returning QB in spring practice

South Carolina has lost three of its five quarterbacks in spring practices this year to various injuries. So it should come as good news to Will Muschamp and the Gamecock staff that there is a quarterback who is trying to get to Columbia earlier than expected.
Jake Bentley is a four-star 2017 quarterback who committed to South Carolina late last month. However, Bentley took to Twitter to announce that he will be graduating from high school in May of this year and enrolling at USC this coming summer.
That's a pretty sweet deal for South Carolina and it looks like the quarterback competition just got searing hot. Bentley's dad is actually an assistant on the South Carolina staff and would have forced the younger Bentley to either stay in Alabama for another year of high school or transfer for his senior to some place near the college. He figured graduating early and getting in some reps in the summer couldn't hurt and it would keep him close to his dad.
